So, turns out there’s an amazingly beautiful place to hike minutes from my house, called Six Mile Run.
I went last Thursday with Ria, my sweet rescue mutt from this place Tennessee (that’s a plug … go check out their site … they do flippin’ good work). We didn’t see another soul for hours, and I actually startled myself when I spoke to Ria the first time.
I got my daily dose of green, with a rusty old Saab mixed in (you see that tree growing out the trunk?). We went off trail to head back after a few hours and ran across this little dead fox. After a tiny wave of sadness and horror, I felt amazed to see this beautiful creature up close.
Is there a place by your house that you suddenly discovered that you never knew existed?

A trunk in the trunk? Oh my!
Looks like a nice hike. It’s been years since I’ve hiked along the canals. When I had my motorcycle I used to the Princeton area and pick a spot and start walking.

I’ve lived near the Palisades Interstate Park for a while but it wasn’t until a few years ago that I started spending more time there other than the occasional drive through it. During the warmer seasons I’m usually there 2-3 times a week hiking, running or biking. Feel silly for not doing it sooner.
Dear Sproxno…
Welcome!
Princeton is a great place to walk around. Just there yesterday and was surprised at how crowded it was … maybe it was family wknd at the university.
Never been to Palisades Interstate Park, but I’ve heard good things about it. Is it worth the drive up ? Can I let my little mutt off leash?
Cheers,
Moe
